Back in 2015, the Toyota Venza quietly exited stage-left as the automaker shifted focus to other projects. Five years later, Toyota has announced the crossover's triumphant return for the 2021 model year. In early September 2020, the 2021 Venza will kick off its second generation with some compelling new attributes, including a new hybrid powerplant, standard Electronic On-Demand All-Wheel Drive, and a wealth of standard and available features.

Hybrid Power and AWD Control

Available exclusively as a hybrid model, the 2021 Venza finds its motivation in a 2.5-liter Toyota Hybrid System II powertrain that generates 219 horsepower. In addition to comfortable performance on city streets and highways, the 2021 Venza offers impressive fuel efficiency for its size, with preliminary manufacturer fuel economy estimates of 39 mpg combined.

The 2021 Venza will also come standard with advanced Electronic On-Demand All-Wheel Drive providing enhanced control and handling without sacrificing efficiency. The same system found on the all-new RAV4 Prime, Electronic On-Demand AWD features a separate rear-mounted motor that engages only when necessary, including during startup acceleration and low-traction situations. Toyota states that the new AWD system enhances stability while cornering by reducing understeer.

Standard Features

Available in three trim levels, the 2021 Venza comes generously equipped no matter which tier you select. Standard feature highlights of the base LE trim include:

  • All-wheel drive
  • 18-inch wheels
  • LED headlights
  • An 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system

  • A 4.2 multi-information display
  • Keyless entry and push-button ignition
  • A power-adjustable driver's seat
  • Dual-zone automatic climate control

Like most Toyota models, the 2021 Venza will also come standard with the Toyota Safety Sense (TSS 2.0) suite of advanced driver-assistance technologies, including:

  • Pre-Collision System with Pedestrian Detection
  • Full-Speed Range Dynamic Radar Cruise Control
  • Lane Departure Alert with Steering Assist
